Introducing Dr. Anya Sharma
SPT’s New CISO Brings Clinical Experience and Cybersecurity Leadership to the Front Lines of Health Tech
Secure Patient Technology is proud to welcome Dr. Anya Sharma as our new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). A nationally recognized cybersecurity expert with a clinical background, Dr. Sharma brings the rare combination of bedside insight and enterprise-scale security expertise to the evolving challenges of digital healthcare.
A Proven Leader in Healthcare Security
Before joining SPT, Dr. Sharma served as:
Director of Cybersecurity Innovation at MediCorp, where she led the development and deployment of the Sentinel Protocol, reducing breach incidents by 60% across their 40-hospital network.
Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Information Security at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she helped shape the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.
Clinical Security Advisor for two federal HHS task forces focused on health data modernization and ransomware resilience.
A Clinician at Heart
Dr. Sharma began her career as a pediatric nurse, working in high-volume urban hospitals where digital systems often lagged behind the pace of care. That frontline perspective continues to guide her approach to cybersecurity:
“Security that disrupts clinical care isn’t secure—it’s a liability. My job is to protect data without compromising the delivery of care.”
Why She Joined SPT
“SPT is one of the few organizations that understands security isn’t just a back-office function—it’s central to how healthcare works. I joined because this team is building systems that empower providers while setting new standards for digital trust.”
What’s Ahead
Dr. Sharma is leading several initiatives at SPT, including:
Strengthening internal incident response and transparency protocols
Expanding secure mobile access across our HIE and messaging platforms
Launching a quarterly Security Awareness & Threat Trends Report
Collaborating with product teams to embed security earlier in the development lifecycle
We’re honored to have Dr. Sharma leading the next phase of our security strategy—and excited for what her leadership will unlock for our customers, our partners, and the future of care.
